Medicare covers the basics but you don't have a choice of dr and there is a long waiting period for non-emergency surgery. I live in country NSW where it's normal to wait 3 weeks to see a Dr. As a result, the emergency dept at the local hospital is packed and usually means waiting several hours for treatment, even for broken bones!
I pay $30 a month for pre-paid mobile, $50 a month for pre-paid internet. It's for basic coverage and with phone calls I have to keep them to a minimum.

i thought i'd see if anyone on here could give us some advice on places to see/stay/eat in brisbane and thereabouts, as well as places to steer clear of.
I would use Brisbane as a stop-over and not waste time there when you could be in more scenic parts of Queensland. I would spend as much time as possible at the Great Barrier Reef and the surrounding towns onland. Time you plan to spend in Brisbane could be spent at the Reef or touring other parts of the east coast.
I haven't been to NZ or Tahiti so can't advise on those places but I'm sure you'll have a great time. Tahiti is expensive though.

Why are you focussing on Brisbane so much? Unless you have family or friends there, you would be better off spending your time and money on more scenic parts of Queensland/Australia. Brisbane is just another big city otherwise.
I definitely recommend the Great Barrier Reef. There are plenty of resorts on the various islands from which you can tour the islands and Reef. Best deal is to go to a resort where all food and basic water sports are included.
Just be aware that February is still part of the Wet Season for Far North Queensland, so there may be a possibility of heavy storms.
Currumbin Sanctuary and Australia Zoo are worth going to if you want to see Australian fauna.

It's possible to survive in Australia on $35 a day, but don't expect to be able to buy fresh fruit and vegetables, run and maintain a car properly, have holidays and don't you dare get sick or have an injury!!!
As a(nother) full-time student, that's what I'm living on. I survive, but I live from fortnight to fortnight.
And Australian prices for food and other retail goods are much higher than American prices, due to our fresh food not being subsidised like the US govt does, plus a standard Goods and Services Tax (10%) that's added to everything.

if you accepted any assignments through the years that required baptism (Elder, MS, Pioneer) then I think they would say that you proved by accepting these that you were baptized and are simply lying now
I can understand if as a child, you were too scared to say anything publically at the time, but if as an adult you allowed the charade to continue, including accepting any assignments that only baptised publishers could receive, then you need to accept that you played your part and accept responsibility for your actions.

What an idiot.
Most JWs would have said a polite "thank you", perhaps explain that they don't celebrate Christmas but they appreciate the thought behind the gift, and left it at that.
At least, I would have.

That was something that used to bug me as a JW, and led me to realise God wasn't with the WTS.
